Felling Stitch

Fell/Felling Stitch

The fell stitch is used mostly for installing linings or stitching seams that are sewn from the outside of a garment. The motions are similar to the whip stitch. It differs from whip stitch in that the needle travels to the next location between the layers of fabric instead of on the surface. This stitch is used to finish bindings, hem linings, finish armholes, and attach collar linings. It is remarkably strong in contrast to its simple execution.
