Cottage Core Sweater Vest 2023

This basic brief is labeled for male-bodied individuals, but can easily be contoured for a female-bodied cut if needed. Typically, the proportions that are used will regulate the width and if you just follow the draft it should naturally fall into a female proportion.

Cut Elastics about 2 inches/5cm smaller than the total opening for legs. Cut the waist elastic about 4 inches/10cm smaller than the waist measurement.

When working in Ballet, it is useful to have a good leotard pattern for a man. This style has a small shaping for the front crotch and a thong-style back. Male dancers often prefer this style as it does not disturb the visual line of the glutes, which are part of the visual spectacle of the powerful bodies that dancers build. Seam allowances are included in the draft and are suitable for serger/merrow machine sewing. For fitting purposes, costumers often cut wide allowances for the back and side seams to retain enough material to perfect the fit. Once finalized, the excess is cut away and a typical serged/merrowed seam is sewn.
